NEW LANDMARK FOR PILAR DE LA HORADADA
Pilar de la Horadada has a new landmark which those of you traveling from the N332 down the back road to the Deportivo cannot have failed to see.
Situated in the centre of a large roundabout it is a 10ft high bull sculpted in metal by local artist Pedro Manuel Moya.
It would seem that the bull has already been paraded through the streets of Pilar on two occasions, the first in 2001 when it participated in the Fiesta Patronales on a float presented by the Peña Rincón del Silencio.
Despite being a most popular exhibit there was a great deal of controversy in the town when the bull failed to win an award. By way of protest it was then promptly paraded through the towns streets once again.
In the words of the Mayor Ignacio Ramos, who was accompanied at the ceremony to unveil the bull by the Councillor for Festivals Alfonso Armenteros and the sculptor Juan Ramon Moya, the bull will now become a most fitting symbol for Pilar de la Horadada.
