Healthy Prospects for Rojales Alicante Province
A new Health Centre for the Valencian Community will provide assistance to over 8,500 citizens.
The Councillor for Health of the Generalitat Valenciana, Manuel Cervera, paid a visit to the Municipality of Rojales in order to witness the laying of the first stones of its future Health Centre, where he was met by Mayor of Rojales, Antonio Martínez Cánovas and the Managing Director of the Departamento de Salud Torrevieja, Luis Barcia. Mr Cervera declared that, “This is the second Health Centre providing Primary Attention to the municipality of Rojales, and is to become a vital service for more than 8,500 neighbours living in the urbanizations of Pueblo Lucero; Ciudad Quesada I and II; Doña Pepa I and II; Pueblo Bravo; Fiesta I and II and Benimar II”. Mr Cervera went on to state that the existing Health Centre in the town will become an integrated facility, offering specialized medical services to those who currently have to travel outside of the locality. He said that Rojales is presently the Spanish municipality with the second greatest percentage of foreigners, which constitute 71.75% of its entire empadronated population.
PRIORITY
The Health Councillor noted the superior construction and facilities to be available within the centre on completion, insisting that providing quality health care throughout the region has always been a high priority for the Conselleria. He emphasized the large number of new Health Centres that have recently been inaugurated in the Alicante Province, saying, “All of this is strong evidence of the huge effort the Generalitat Valenciana has made to guarantee its citizens access to the highest quality and most modern form of medical assistance throughout the province of Alicante”.
The Health Authority has implemented a total of 80 projects involving Health Centers and Doctor’s surgeries, with an investment value of 76 million euros distributed throughout the 60 municipalities of the Province.
INVESTMENT
The Departamento de Salud Torrevieja will manage the construction of the latest Health Centre, in collaboration with the City Council of Rojales. The decision to site a second clinic in the area was based on figures which reflected the drastic increase in residents during recent years, which continue to put pressure on existing services. The clinic will be situated in the neighbouring village of Ciudad Quesada, on the corner of Calle Tarragona with Avenida de Huelva and it is calculated it will serve some 8,524 inhabitants, from six urbanizations. An investment of 2.2 million euros has been reserved to build and equip the facility, to employ 4 General Practitioners, a communal Paediatrician, 4 Nurses, 1 Auxiliary and 3 Administrative personnel.
FACILITIES
The reception area will house a waiting room, offices and three appointment reservation points accepting walk-in, telephone and on-line bookings. The General Medical zone will be divided between 6 consultation rooms and 3 Nurse’s clinics, whilst two consultation rooms and a Nurse’s clinic will be dedicated entirely to Paediatrics. The clinic will include an area for minor operations will comprise 3 multipurpose treatment rooms. Opening hours have already been scheduled as 08:00 to 15:00 Monday to Friday. The Managing Director of the Departamento de Salud Torrevieja, Luis Barcia explained that “The Primary Attention policy of the Torrevieja Department has always centered upon reaching the highest possible levels of satisfaction and public attention and figures have proven that this objective is being reached.” He concluded, “The department regards the centre in Rojales as our latest challenge, which will certainly not be the last and will achieve the same impeccable standards as those already in operation”.
