Rojales - The Provincial Delegate Meets With Municipal Leaders
The New Delegate for the Provincial Council has demonstrated his desire to work closely with the Mayors throughout the area, and provide his utmost support to the people.
Delegate for the Provincial Council of Alicante, José Císcar, has conducted a series of institutional tours of the Town Halls located across the Vega Baja region, to consult with municipal leaders over their intentions for the ‘Plan Especial de Inversión Productiva’, which was introduced by the Valencian Community as an investment strategy against the crisis. During his first visit, Mr Císcar met with the Mayors of Acalde de Benferri, Catral and Benejúzar, Luis Vicente Mateo, Aurelio David Albero and Antonio Bernabé respectively.
The tour continued to Rojales, where Mr Císcar was welcomed by the Mayor, Antonio Martínez Cánovas. He was introduced to the council cabinet and members of the ruling Partido Popular, before signing the ‘Libro de Honor’, which is reserved for special guests.
The Politicians went on to discuss the future of Rojales, and areas which Mr Cánovas has highlighted as those of greatest need within the municipal Special Plan of Support for Productive Investment.
AMBITIOUS
The Town Council of Rojales received an allocation of 3 million euros from the Valencian Government, devising twenty new projects in which to invest. The plan is predominantly focused in improving infrastructure such as roads and drainage, which have been the foremost items of complaint received by the Town Hall over the past twelve months. The Mayor said that each of the projects is designed to improve the quality of life for local residents, whilst concurrently attracting more visitors to the area and thus generating wealth and employment. Among the most ambitious projects highlighted in the plan is that of improving drainage systems within Rojales Town, in the vicinity of Calles Escarrihuela, Constitución and Avenida Vega Baja, which requires an investment in excess of 226,000€, and improving facilities connected to the tennis court in Ciudad Quesada, which will be equipped with its own changing room and encompass a sum of 230,000€.
Other problems which will be addressed through the contingency fund include the southern approach road to the public primary school, ‘Príncipe de España’, with a sum of 98,899€, and access routes in various urbanizations such as La Fiesta, Lo Pepín and Pueblo Lucero.
IMPRESSED
Mr Císcar indicated that he was extremely impressed with the plan and satisfied that each of these projects was planned in the best interests of the town and its people. He concluded that the Provincial council will continue to work directly alongside municipal councils throughout the province and ensure that work is carried out with the least possible inconvenience to residents and commuters.
